Phu Quoc ridgeback

Phu Quoc ridgeback is original of Phu Quoc Island. Its distinct identification from other breeds of dogs is the swirling hair on his spine. It is one of three lines of ridgebacks in the world. Two other ridgebacks are Thai  ridgeback  and Rhodesia ridgeback. Especially, Phu Quoc ridgeback burrow to lay and have a knack for hunting, climbing, swimming in the water good because of webbed feet like a propeller and very short hair so Phu Quoc ridgeback just get their body to dry quickly.

Shape:
The coat is short and close to the body.  Swirling hair on the back is an important feature to identify the Phu Quoc ridgeback dog. The swirling hair shape could be in shapes of arrows, swords, oval whirlpool... The swirling hair could be on the back, sometimes the vortices are located on either side of the neck, the buttocks.

Webbed feet: the feet are webbed skin connecting the toes together, suitable for swimming under water, some have to claws on the back foot.
Spots on the tongue: the tongue is black or some dark spots.

Male Phu Quoc ridgeback  have muscular body - muscles that make up the front solid muscle on both sides. Female  Phu Quoc ridgeback often have thin waist leaning toward the tail.
There are wrinkles on the forehead, ears erect, tail curved over their back.

Temperament
Phu Quoc ridgeback has lot of good characteristics: hunting, and hunt very well. Phu Quoc ridgeback can hunt larger animals like deer, even aggressive species such as feral pigs, poisonous snakes as wel as  very good guard dog. At night, the dog is easy to detect the target, strangers and never give up. Phu Quoc ridgeback is very close and friendly to everyone, it learn new thing easily. Sometimes they may bite people but it's not common. The highlight characteristic of aggression compare to other dogs, especially bravely.

History
The origin of Phu Quoc ridgeback is unknown at present. According to some people, Phu Quoc ridgeback was started from a French ridgebacks that got lost on the island of Phu Quoc. They were here and proliferated into a kind of wild dog. According to a source of advertising for dog  Thai ridgeback, Phu Quoc ridgeback from Thailand and  there are few arguments on the illustration for this breed of dog.
