Từ Hiếu Pagoda
Từ Hiếu (filial) pagoda is located in Duong Xuan Thuong III, Xuan Thuy Ward, Hue City, Thua Thien-Hue. The pagoda is one of the great ancient pagoda and this is a famous cultural and historical architecture in Hue.
In 1843 after the resignation of the position of the abbot of "Giac Hoang Quoc Tu Cang" pagoda, Nhất Định priest came here and built "Thảo Am An Dưỡng" temple
Nhất Định was famous of his filial and Từ Hiếu pagoda was called from there.
Từ Hiếu pagoda was tucked away in a pine forest on a hilly area of Xuan Thuy Ward. It's on the area of 8 hecta, front winding canyons, poetic landscape.
In front of the entrance is 3 storey high tower was built in 1896 by the king's edict as a place to store bible. The entrance gate is arch, 2 storeys and roofed and paved the way to the main hall is a semi-circular lake and lotus plant aquarists. The structure of the pagoda follow the pattern of the style of 3 big houses and 2 small houses with the front is the main Buddhist temple.
Around Tu Hieu pagoda has many graves of the concubines of the Nguyen Lords. Due to the beautiful, quiet position and not so far from city of Hue then the ancient Tu Hieu Pagoda is one of most attracted place for tourist.
