Hainan Asembly Hall
Hainan Asembly Hall was built by the contribution of the Chinese from Hainan in 1875. It is the place for the activities of people from Hainan and the place for them to worship their ancestors. In Hainan Asembly Hall there're altars of 108 people that were died unfairly because of mistaken as enemy by pirates. They wwere later vindicated by Tu Duc emperor and recognized as loyal citizens and for building Hainan assembly halls to everlasting worshiping.
Summer, year of Tự Đức the IV:
On 16/7/1851 (18/6 lunar calendar) vessel Bằng Đoàn was in Thị Nại dock under control of Tôn Thất Thiều and Phạm Xích commanders, that on the patrol route from Thừa thiên to Bình Định. They were informed of 3 vessels at ChiêmDư island( Quảng Ngãi) they assumed these 3 vessels were pirates vessels. They attached the 3 vessels without doubt and investigation. All the people on 3 Chinese vessels were killed.
After looting the vessels, they finally found out they were not pirates. Tôn Thất Thiều and Phạm Xích made fake evidence and reported to the capital of their victory from conquer the pirates.
Tự Đức doubted the report he ordered to investigate the case. Finally, the conspiracy was exposed. All the people involved were in trial and confessed the guiltiness.
Tự Đức emperor fixed the mistake by giving the titles of these 108 people
